Jake Explains:
Our home is very big, and there are a lot of "dead spots" in the corridors between the rooms. We decided to try and salvage some spaces for various tasks (reading, resting, storage, etc) by making the corridors feel like rooms. So we bought a few long rugs (roller rugs) and used the to make "new zones" in the corridors. We added some nice chairs, bookcases, and more, and voila! A place to lounge with a good book in a special place at home.
Our Interior Designer John says:
Creating new rooms with rugs and furniture is a smart thing to do for using more of your home. Very easily and affordably anyone can create a new zone to do something special in his or her home. This is a classic example of how to do it, and Jake found the perfect rug for the job. Since he looked to make a room in a corridor, a runner rug was the best choice for the job.
