A2Z Rug Persian Rugs - Persian Rugs

Persian rugs and pets

It could be a real task to keep your precious Persian rug in good condition when you have your animal family members around. You might feel be torn between the “oh-so-exquisite” rug and your beloved pet.

Pets can indeed be a great threat to your expensive Persian rug, and unless you have a really well-trained pet that understands the worth of the rug as much as you do, it will probably remain so. You can minimize the risk your pet poses to your rug by following some of the following simple tips.

• One of the common problems your pet can cause to the Persian rug is shedding hair. Do not worry – vacuuming the rug regularly on a low setting will keep the rug clean and dust-free.

• Pet urine can be another danger to the rug. To clean urine stains, you can use a little bit of warm water and detergent, followed by white vinegar and water. You can then dab it dry. Do not wash or spread the stain; focus on cleaning that particular area.

• Do not use a comb or brush to clean the Persian rug or remove pet hair – it will be too harsh on the rug and can cause damage to the rug that can affect its value dearly.

• While it might be a nightmarish thought to imagine your pet vomiting on your Persian rug, some warm water with detergent followed by a dry cleaning solvent should be able to clean up the entire mess.

Just like with any disaster management program, you need to keep one thing in mind: Prevention is more effective than a cure. Even if your Persian rug is under threat from a pet, your swift and immediate action to combat the damage caused can save your rug from long-lasting harm.
