Mashad rugs from the holy city of Mashad in the Eastern province of Khorasan are known the world over for their smooth texture and durability.

Also Known As: Mashad carpets are also known as Maschad, Meszhed, Mashhad or Mashed carpets.

High altitude sheep wool or “fatty wool” gives these rugs their soft, luscious texture. Large Mashed carpets are well suited for use in dining rooms, where heavy furniture or the constant pulling of chairs might be a challenge for a less robust carpet.

Colors: Beige, sky and dark blue, with lively reds and oranges.

Patterns: Medallion centers dominate, stylized lotus blossoms and other flowers; often with one or more eye catching borders.
