Soft and resilient Balooch tribal woven rugs come in deep blues and reds with unique camel and Gul (flower) motifs.
In the south eastern province of Baluchestan ancient tribes settled to tend to their flocks. Balooch Persian rugs, also called Belouch or Balouch Persian rugs are beautiful nomadic works of art that come from this area.

Featured motif: The Gul: In Farsi Gul means flower. Gul motif refers to octagonal, repeated patterns that cover the whole rug.
Baluchi tribes create these flexibly soft woven rugs on horizontal looms. Usually not more than 2 metres long, most Balooch style nomadic rugs have a cotton foundation. Sometimes goat hair makes up the weft (the horizontal threads of the weave).
Colors: White, ivory, yellow and orange patterns contrast beautifully with dark red or blue backgrounds.

Patterns: Prized by these nomadic tribes, camel designs are predominant features of a Belouch area rug. Camel or Gul medallions are both common in Balooch rug patterns.
